The project dealt with creating an experience for the screening of a film in the Design Gallery at the National Institute of Design, using textile as a medium. It was largely dealt at the conceptual stage. Fabrics samples were later developed to express the feel of the various areas.
The movie, The Science of Sleep, by Michael Gondry is about a man who is confused between his dreams and reality. He is in love with a French woman. Interesting elements with many textures and colours have been used in the movie to communicate the story.
The ambience for the screening of the movie is created using the elements from the film. The space would take the audience into the world of the characters of the movie.
The ramp leading to the design gallery was to be turned into a tunnel with splashes of colours. Certain elements from the film were to be placed upside down inside the design gallery and its roof would be covered with colourful stripes of fabric depicting the confusion and chaos in the life of the protagonist.
